Honor Kaytlin: Support Addiction Recovery Programs
Tax deductible
Hi everyone, my name is Jordyn. My family and I are raising funds for the MN Adult and Teen Challenge in memory of my sister Kaytlin. Kaytlin had attended the program for a short time in February of 2024 due to a prior overdose that she survived. After being released she was doing well staying sober. Unfortunately, the addiction started to creep back in and she sadly lost her battle against addiction.
My family had been preparing for this sort of tragedy, although no family should have to prepare for that. Addiction truly changes people. Who she was while using wasn't who she was in her heart. Kaytlin was kind, caring, and compassionate, she would've done anything for the people she was close to. She had the biggest heart for animals and they loved her back. Growing up there wasn't a single insect or reptile that she feared. She was so brave and we admired that about her.
During the pandemic, Social Media became her teaching tool. High school, as it became, equaled isolation, and that is what she became an expert at. Her existence was propped up by drugs; and the desire for those substances became the most important part of each moment. We know that she wanted to change but she was so lost and deeply depressed that she decided it wasn't worth the effort. She was nineteen, and believed that her life was hers and no one had the right to interfere with her decisions. Although this program at this time was not a success, we believe that if she had stayed longer it could have been. She went in voluntarily and it was her decision to leave. Adult and Teen Challenge is a wonderful program that is faith-based and they are non-profit. They work solely off of donations and we hope that whatever funds we can raise can help save somebody else.
We really appreciate all of the love and support that we have received from everyone so far. Kaytlin was so loved by so many and we wish she knew that while she was alive. If you have children please share her story in hopes that they will not follow her path. If you can't financially donate, please share. Thank you <3
