Help Support Karin Marson and Her Family During This Heartbreaking Time

It is with a heavy heart that I share the story of Karin Marson, a beloved wife, friend, and caregiver, who is now in the final stages of her battle with cancer. Karin’s journey has been devastating, marked by misdiagnosis, unimaginable pain, and unwavering strength.

For over a year, Karin sought help from her doctor for a painful growth, repeatedly explaining how uncomfortable it was, especially when she sat. Without examining the area, the doctor continually dismissed her concerns, prescribing only a topical cream. Despite multiple visits and her worsening symptoms, the growth was never properly evaluated.

Suffering in unbearable pain, Karin sought help with a different doctor. Where they quickly determined that the growth was cancerous. Tests revealed an advanced form of cancer, and Karin began aggressive chemo and radiation treatments immediately.

The treatments were brutal. Karin described her skin as "melting off" from the intensity of the radiation, leaving her hospitalized for two weeks to recover with hydration and skin therapy. Despite her pain and the temptation to stop, Karin fought on with remarkable courage and determination.

After completing treatment, Karin received the incredible news that she was cancer-free, confirmed by a full-body CT scan. She celebrated the milestone by ringing the bell—a moment of joy and hope.

But just eight weeks later, tragedy struck again. Karin experienced severe stomach pain and was rushed to the hospital. Tests revealed a new and rare form of cancer that had spread throughout her stomach and other organs—stage 4 cancer that had been missed on prior scans. This time, there were no treatment options. Karin was sent home on hospice care.

Karin has touched countless lives. Many of you from Pacifica will remember her as the heart and soul behind a beloved daycare, where she helped raise so many children with love and kindness. After moving to Stockton, Karin continued to spread her light, helping start community projects to assist those in need, feeding pets, and rescuing animals to find them forever homes. She is also deeply involved in her church and always quick to offer help, whether through food, clothing, or simply being a friend.

Now, Karin and her husband Dave need our support. We are raising funds to help cover Karin’s end-of-life expenses, including her cremation, and to ease the financial burden on Dave during this unimaginably difficult time.
