Honor K-9 Draco: Memorial Statue Fund

On October 16, 2024 tragedy struck the Mount Airy NC Police Department. K-9 Draco was shot and killed in the Line of Duty while trying to apprehend a double murder suspect that was wanted out of the Fayetteville, NC area. The suspect was involved in a high-speed chase that ultimately ended in the vehicle crashing. The suspect fled the crash scene on foot. Multiple officers along with K-9 Draco began tracking the suspect. During the foot pursuit of the suspect, the suspect turned and began firing at the officers. K-9 Draco was released at that point and went after the suspect. During his attempted apprehension of the suspect, K-9 Draco was shot and succumbed to his injuries. His heroic actions and ultimate sacrifice saved the lives of the multiple other officers with him.

To help memorialize this act of Heroism, nonprofit Pawsome Solutions Inc of Mount Airy, NC has created this Go Fund Me Account to help raise funds to purchase a Memorial Statue for K-9 Draco to be located at the Mount Airy Police Department. Sculptor Lena Tortich of Salt Lake City, UT has been commissioned to create the bronze memorial statue.
