On July 28, 2025, after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer, retired Deputy Sheriff Julio Palencia passed away. For over two decades, Julio wore the star with pride, faithfully serving the people of San Francisco from 1999 until his retirement in 2024. He answered the call day after day, quietly doing the hard work of keeping others safe.

Julio was more than a colleague—he was a protector, a friend, and a brother in uniform. He leaves behind a grieving family: his wife, Claudia, six children, five grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Now, in addition to their heartbreak, they face the heavy weight of funeral expenses and life without the man who held their family together.
