Honoring John: Help Daisy & Crystal Fund His Memorial

Donation protected
Hello friends and family of John, Crystal, and Daisy,

If you ever met John, you've known his kindness, quick smile, and joy in finding the wisdom and humor in life's every moment. His shining spirit lit up the room and welcomed everyone around. If you know his daughters, you have seen that light shining in the next generation.

John passed away over Memorial Day weekend and is greatly missed. His debilitating condition, Inclusion Body Myositis, slowly chipped away at John's mobility and independence over more than a decade. Despite this incredible challenge, John remained a courageous, mindful, and patient man, accepting the losses as they came. He was a caring father, brother, uncle, and a friend to many through to his very final hours.

For the past 5 years, Daisy has been increasingly devoted to her father's care, acting as John's primary caregiver and coordinating his talented, round-the-clock team of medical aides. She has also taken on increasing tasks caring for and supporting Crystal as John's abilities reduced. Though these responsibilities mean Daisy has had little time for her consulting business these last 18 months, she has been honored to support her father's final stage of life saying, "His resiliency was a shining example to those who knew him these many years, and his courage and ability to constantly adapt to the losses and circumstances before him leave behind lessons for us all."

In Daisy's words, from a 2018 Father's Day Facebook post, John was:
"A Renaissance man from the beginning: an engineer, mathematician, businessman, musician, carpenter, counselor, mountaineer & rock climber (before that was a thing sane people did), soccer coach, school board member, farmer, teacher, political strategist, poet, philosopher and spiritual seeker, prognosticator, and one of the most thoughtful, caring, and emotionally attuned guys I know. He cooks and sews and does the dishes, and also watches sports and swears with the guys. He constantly reminds me how to have humility, patience, self-awareness, charm, and good humor through life's ups and downs. He shows me how to love, how to keep an open heart, and how to listen (even if he's not *always* good at it himself ) He is a thinker, a jester, and above all, a devoted dad."

Right now and for their future, Daisy and Crystal could use financial support. They are navigating loss, logistics, and a major life transition. Unfortunately, expenses don't wait for a convenient time, and the costs associated with end of life, and the time ahead, are many.

Please honor John's memory and join us in contributing what you can to support his family. Donations will be used towards the cost of John's redwood grove memorial service, close out his apartment, help cover the gap in employment for his devoted aides, to prepare for Crystal's future, and to generally help reduce financial stress for his loving daughters during this difficult time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. <3
