Honor John Hicks by helping Angela and the girls

When John Hicks passed away in February he left behind his wife Angela and his two daughters (Dylan, 5 and Riley, 2); they were everything to him.

John made us laugh, challenged us and was always honorable.

He fought a 300 day battle with DLBC Burkitt’s Like Triple Hit Lymphoma that started six weeks into the pandemic. He fought through an emergency spleen removal, aggressive chemotherapy, stem cell bone marrow transfer and Car-T therapy. While he had multiple moments in those 300 days that appeared to be a miraculous recovery, the cancer ultimately took him from this world on February 20, 2021.

John fought mightily. At every turn in his journey, he voiced his faith in both God and his belief in what we are doing here at Illumina to help understand and help in the treatment of Cancer. He was a person that connected and cared deeply about those in his life and was ever grateful for the people around him. If you were hired under his watch, he was as proud of you as any parent could be and watched your career progress over the years. If he was your talent acquisition partner, he treated that as treasured relationship. For so many of us, how we came to know him was irrelevant as we also came to count him among our dearest friends.

Please join us in celebrating his life and supporting his family through a donation to Angela and the girls in helping them build their future.
