Hello everybody my name is Alex Mendoza and I hope this post finds you all well. It is with a heavy heart that I announce my nana Irma Garcia has unfortunately passed on. I created this gofundme with the intention of getting her story out there for you all to get to know what an amazing person my grandmother was while also asking for all the help we can get to put my nana Irma to rest whether that be posting this to your story donating what you can or including my grandmother in your prayers and thoughts. Irma was born August 24th, 1940 and led a long beautiful life. Irma was a tamalera in Mexico City growing up and had a lot of friends who loved her food and stories. Into her 30s she had 4 beautiful children MariaIsabel, Elda, Jiordana and Oscar. In her 40s she packed up her entire life and everything she knew to start fresh here in the United States with her 4 kids it was a difficult time getting used to her new life here not knowing the language or anybody in this country but she did it for her kids to have a good education and good life. Here in the United States she brought her career as a tamalera and was able to make many relationships and friendships finding community in Fillmore and Santa Paula. Irma loved dancing and singing and being around family. She began her journey as a grandmother in her 40s and had a total of 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren into her 70s. Irma was an amazing woman she was always selfless giving her last dollar to anybody in need even if she didn’t have any left for herself. She always made sure everyone was taken care of and felt loved and cared for. She was so funny whenever anybody felt down she never failed to crack a joke to make them feel better because once she was laughing everyone in the room would be laughing. My grandma raised me and many of her other grandchildren she would always tell us stories about the travesuras we would do as toddlers. Unfortunately after her youngest son Oscar passed she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s and her health deteriorated from there. Even though she was suffering with these horrible illnesses she still managed to keep her witty sense of humor and selflessness. At the end of my nana’s life my mom is left with this great expense and unfortunately she has no help so we are turning to whoever is reading this if you are willing to anything helps whether it’s a donation, a repost or simply keeping Irma in your thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this and have a blessed day.
