Honor Imad Kastanteen: Build Wells for Those in Need

We come together with heavy hearts after the passing of our beloved father, brother, friend, and community member, Imad Kastanteen, who passed away this blessed Ramadan on March 17th at Vanderbilt Hospital. In his memory, we aim to honor his compassionate spirit by establishing sadaqah jariyah (ongoing charity) on his behalf.

Through Muslim Hands USA, we plan to build one tube well ($310) and one dig-a-well ($950) in areas identified as most in need, ensuring that vulnerable communities gain dependable access to clean water. The remaining funds of the fundraising target will be used for GoFundMe platform processing fees and any remaining funds after that will go towards building additional wells.

About the Dig-a-Well

- Impact: A single Dig-a-Well can serve around 35 families, or up to 200 people, providing clean water for drinking, washing, cooking, and livestock.

- Location & Purpose: These wells are ideal for communities reliant on agriculture, drawing water from up to 40 meters beneath the ground, ensuring a reliable water source in all seasons. Typically located in communal centers (village squares, schools, or mosques).

- Timeline: Construction can take 9-12 months, partly due to seasonal constraints. We will share the donation receipt and feedback reference on this page. Once the well is complete, an electronic report with images and general information will be shared onto this page as well.

About the Tube Well

- Impact: A tube well can support up to 4 families by providing a safe, easy-to-maintain water source for drinking, washing, and cooking.

- Location & Purpose: It draws water from about 30 meters beneath the ground and can last at least 10 years, generally placed between clusters of houses for maximum convenience.

- Timeline: Like the Dig-a-Well, a tube well can also take 9-12 months to complete. We will share the donation receipt and feedback reference on this page. Once the well is complete, an electronic report with images and general information will be shared onto this page as well.
