Honor Ian Bowekaty: Support His Family
Donation protected
Early on April 2, 2025, Ian Bowekaty, Carleton and Janis Bowekaty's oldest son, was involved in a terrible car accident, and tragically succumbed to his injuries. Please join Bears Ears Inter-Tribal Coalition (BEITC) and Bears Ears Partnership (BEP) in this ask for your financial assistance for the Bowekaty family, ensuring funeral and ceremonial costs are the last thing on their minds.
Ian was a bright student at NAU, an Indigenous Ranger at Mesa Verde National Park and an emerging Zuni leader with a generous passion for sharing his culture with others. He was a beloved brother, son and uncle. As we hold this family in our hearts during this difficult time, please consider supporting the Bowekaty's.
The Bowekaty family would like us to share this wonderful
interview with Ian as he served for two years as an Indigenous Ranger, and his generous nature of wanting to share Zuni culture with the public. This says so much about the emerging Zuni leader that Ian was, but also about the wonderful parents that Carleton and Janis are. Enjoy listening to a few moments of Ian's story.
Carleton is the current Policy Director for BEP & former Co-Chair of BEITC, he and his family have long been advocates and leaders in protecting and preserving Tribal ancestral homelands.
