Yesterday, our world fell quiet.
Our mother, Gloria Oppong, took her final breath at UC Health after a courageous two–year battle with stage 4 colon cancer that spread through her body. She faced every treatment, every setback, every long night with a grace and strength that humbled everyone around her. She was a devoted mother to five children, a steady sister, and a loyal friend—one of those rare souls whose presence made life feel lighter, fuller, possible.
Gloria was born in Ghana, and no matter how far life carried her, her heart remained rooted in the motherland of Accra, Ghana. Her only wish was to return there one last time—to rest among her ancestors, surrounded by the culture and community that shaped her. We want more than anything to honor that wish. Her passing came suddenly, and our family is still trying to catch our breath. Alongside our grief, we now face the unexpected weight of funeral expenses and the high cost of transporting her body to Ghana. We are doing everything we can, but we cannot do it alone.
If you feel moved to contribute—whether large or small—please know it will make a real difference. Every donation brings us closer to fulfilling her final request and giving her the dignity, love, and farewell she deserves. Even sharing this page helps more than you know.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for holding our family in your thoughts. In this painful moment, your kindness reminds us that we are not walking through sorrow alone.
