After a long and challenging journey, our beloved Gaspar Velasco finally arrived in the United States after our family waited seven years and invested a significant amount to secure his green card. Tragically, shortly after his arrival, Gaspar began experiencing severe health issues.
He was diagnosed with pneumonia, which then led to the discovery of stage 4 lung cancer, blood clots, gout, and several other medical conditions. Before his health insurance coverage took effect, Gaspar was admitted to the hospital and quickly accumulated significant medical bills. Even after his insurance became active, he reached his out-of-pocket maximum, and we’ve now learned that some of his expenses may not be covered—leaving us with an additional financial burden.
Gaspar passed away unexpectedly on Monday, 10/6/2025, leaving his loved ones heartbroken.
His final wish was to be laid to rest in his homeland, the Philippines. The cost to transport his body alone is approximately $12,000, not including funeral services and related expenses. We are hoping to raise enough funds to:
Transport Gaspar’s body to the Philippines
Hold a memorial service in his honor
Cover his outstanding medical bills
Support travel costs for close family members to attend the visitation
Any contribution, no matter the size, will help us honor Gaspar’s memory and fulfill his final wish. We are deeply grateful for your support during this difficult time.
Thank you for keeping Gaspar and his family in your thoughts.
