More Information:
On May 8, 2024, the Sharon School Committee voted unanimously to honor Gary Walter Hall by dedicating the Sharon High School football field and track facility in his name. There will be an insignia in the top right corner representing the Combat Medic Badge which Mr. Hall earned saving lives in the European Theater’s bloodiest operations.
The plaque will be posted at Sharon High’s football and track arena. As a dedicated educator and war hero, Gary embodies the qualities deserving of such a lasting tribute.
Born in North Adams, MA, Gary was decorated for valor during World War II and went on to leave an indelible mark on Sharon Public Schools athletics for over three decades from 1955-1987.
Mr. Hall's commitment to physical education was unparalleled, and his influence extended far beyond the classroom. Serving as Athletic Director for thirteen years and Chairman of the Physical Education Department, he coached baseball, gymnastics, and soccer, earning a well-deserved place in the Sharon High School Hall of Fame. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, the Sharon School Committee commended him in 1983 for spearheading the CPR Program at Sharon High School, showcasing his commitment to the well-being of students.
Mr. Hall's impact wasn't confined to the academic year; during the summers, he served as a playground supervisor for the Sharon Civic Foundation. Even in the 1970s, he lent his expertise to the Foxboro Youth Hockey Program, coaching and officiating ice hockey games at all levels. His dedication to promoting physical fitness extended beyond the school setting, as he introduced CPR training to students and instructed adult physical fitness in the Adult Education Program.
Your support of the purchase of this dedication plaque will not only honor his remarkable service to education but also serve as an enduring inspiration for generations to come. His legacy, forged through heroism in war and unwavering commitment to shaping young minds, deserves to be engraved into the very foundation of the educational institution he so profoundly impacted.
