It breaks my heart to share that someone who grew up like a little brother to me — Garhett — passed away. This loss is beyond words, and those of us who grew up with him are still in shock and grief.

Garhett’s life was rooted in football. From the moment he could play, he was on the field — starting with i9 flag football, then playing for the Inverness Storm in Pop Warner, QB for Parrott and eventually becoming the quarterback for South Sumter High School. Football wasn’t just a game to him — it was his passion, his identity, and his way of connecting with others. After high school, he continued to give back by becoming a quarterback coach, mentoring young players with the same drive and heart he always had.

He was a huge part of the football community in Inverness and Bushnell. Everyone knew Garhett Miller — for his spirit, his talent, and the way he carried himself both on and off the field.

At 22 years old Garhett was so young and I wish more than anything that he had known just how deeply he was loved and how much he meant to all of us. The world is dimmer without him in it. South Sumter games will never be the same.
