Gabby’s World Scholarship Fund

On June 3, 2023, our beloved Gabrielle “Gabby” Teresa Houston gained her wings at the tender age of 16. Gabby was a beautiful, vibrant soul whose energy and laughter touched everyone she met. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, and raised in Sanford, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Lauren Teresa Houston and Martello Carellie Houston. Sister to Simone Houston and Jadon Houston. Gabby’s spirit was undeniable—whether she was playing the piano, violin, dancing, or simply being her joyful self, she made a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.

Gabby’s love for life was contagious. She was a talented artist, a spirit-led praise dancer, an athlete, and a scholar. At Southern Lee High School, Gabby made her mark by joining JROTC. She had big dreams ahead—dreams of attending North Carolina A&T, building her first car, and even joining the military. Gabby was full of ambition, with a heart full of purpose, and she was always the first to lend a hand to someone in need. Whether she was volunteering as a tutor with the PDY Program or simply cheering up those around her, Gabby made the world a brighter place.

Despite her many talents, Gabby was humble and always looked for ways to help others. She was a protector, standing up for those who couldn’t stand up for themselves. Gabby’s intelligence and wit far exceeded her years, and she was determined to pursue her dreams. She loved animals, nature, and viewed the world as a masterpiece—a view she captured in her artwork, photography, and everyday life.

Gabby’s family and friends are heartbroken by her sudden passing, but they find comfort in knowing that she lived her life with a passion and joy that was contagious. Gabby’s dreams, however, should not end with her. This scholarship fund is being established in her memory to support young people who, like Gabby, possess an unwavering passion for life and a determination to succeed.
