It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the tragic and untimely passing of Faith Mojiba Akinsumade, who was just 39 years old. On 2/16/25, Faith was the victim of a senseless act of violence on the 9200 block of Skillman Street in Dallas, Texas. Her life was cruelly taken, leaving behind a grieving community, unanswered questions, and a daughter who is now in state custody.

Faith came to the United States in 2017 with a dream—like so many others—to build a better life. She carried with her not only hope, but strength, determination, and a desire to succeed and give her daughter the future she deserved. Despite the challenges she faced as an immigrant, Faith was a woman of resilience, deeply loved by those who knew her.

Her sudden and violent death has left her family devastated. At this time, we are humbly asking for your support to:

Support efforts to reconnect her family with her daughter, who is currently in the custody of the state, as they try to navigate the difficult legal and emotional journey ahead.

We recently received a message from the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office stating that Faith’s body has remained unclaimed for nearly two months. The family has been given until May 1, 2025 to make final funeral arrangements. If no arrangements are made by then, she will be considered abandoned and cremated at the county’s expense, with no opportunity for the family to receive her remains.

We cannot allow Faith’s life to end in silence and neglect. She deserves to be honored and remembered by her loved ones.
