Erik Cottle, 48, a lifelong Branford resident, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family and community. Erik’s greatest joy came from being a father and sharing his love of basketball with his son, John. Whether cheering from the sidelines or coaching John’s 8th-grade team, Erik poured his heart into every moment—teaching not just the game, but lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and having fun along the way. This memorial fund has been created to honor Erik’s memory and continue the spirit of encouragement and generosity he shared with others. The majority of funds raised will go toward supporting Erik’s son, John Cottle, to help with his future opportunities in sports, education, and personal growth—reflecting the values and love his father instilled in him.
Additionally, a portion of the funds will be donated to local youth sports programs to help other children experience the same joy and community connection that Erik believed sports could bring.
