Honor Elliot’s Life (Proudly) With Us
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, allies, and kind-hearted strangers,
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved friend and sister, Elliot Colón. Elliot, who was a profound, inspirational creative, passed away on June 9th. She was an artist of many mediums, a poet, and a designer who pushed the boundaries and confinements of conventional and traditional art. Elliot provided a safe space to many. She impacted people through her resilience, intellect, courageousness, fearlessness, and authenticity, especially in the face of any oppressor.
Elliot identified as a transgender woman, and unfortunately, like many queer people, lacked support on her journey from the majority of her biological family, ultimately leaving her strained in other areas of her life. In the end, we would like to memorialize our friend; the beautiful and free doll, daughter, sister, and friend we cherish and knew to be Elliot. It is important that we emphasize the importance of acceptance, of not just identity but normalizing topics of mental health issues as well.
We want to honor Elliot with a respectful small memorial, celebrating her life as just that: hers. We want to provide Elliot with the irreplaceable peace and acceptance that she provided for us while she was here. As her peers, community, trans-brothers, sisters, mothers, and more, it is important that we continue to protect Elliot even after death. However, the cost of the expenses to properly plan out the memorial more aligned to how she would've wanted to be remembered and respected has created a financial challenge for us.
To help with expenses, we have created a GoFundMe to cover the costs of the celebration of Elliot's life. Any contribution, no matter the size, including sharing the link, would mean so much to not only us but to her soul as well.
With radicalized love,
Elliot's Chosen Family + Friends.
