Honor Vincent Urick Jr.: Help His Daughters

Donation protected
Dr. Vincent Urick died unexpectedly on April 24, 2025 at the age of 46. Born in Paxinos, PA, he was a resident of Alexandria, VA for the past 24 years. He dedicated his life to the advancement of science, the defense of our nation, and most importantly to him, the raising of his two daughters, Abigail (13) and Elizabeth (16).

Vince was a trailblazer in the field of microwave photonics, starting his work at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), he continued his efforts at the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA). He served as a program manager for several years before transitioning to a senior technical advisor to the highest levels of government while working as the Vice President of the Defense Technology Division at 2 Circle Consulting. His professional work included the publication of more than 135 peer-reviewed manuscripts, a book, and five U. S. patents.

He had eclectic interests that ranged from Cosmology and Anthropology, to numismatics and US History, and beyond. He enjoyed steak/poker night and participating in a fantasy-football-like competition called "points against the spread," which was an invention developed among his close friends. By far, the most important thing in his life was the connection he continually fostered with his daughters.

Vince enjoyed helping them with academic pursuits, watching movies together, playing basketball with them in the driveway and supporting them from the stands while they played on the pitch or court. While he achieved more in his all-too-short life than most do in a full lifespan, his goal of supporting them through their college years has faltered in his tragic passing.

Vince was a dear friend and colleague of mine -- in his absence, I am asking everyone who can, to honor his memory and greatest unfulfilled wish by contributing to Abby and Lizzy's college fund. The money will be kept in trust with his daughters as the beneficiaries. Keeping in mind that the cost of college is higher than ever, please know that a contribution of any amount is sincerely and deeply appreciated. I thank you in advance for your consideration and help in honoring this great man by supporting his two amazing daughters.

Sincerely,
Drew Kowalevicz
