Honoring the Life and Legacy of Dr. Latesha Elopre

On June 28, 2025, we lost our dear friend and colleague, Dr. Latesha Elopre, far too soon. A dedicated physician, scientist, and leader, Dr. Elopre served as Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases and Assistant Dean for Access and Engagement, Resident/Fellow Experience at UAB. She was a cornerstone of our community, known for her deep compassion, fierce commitment to equity, and unwavering conviction to deliver HIV prevention and care to underserved populations across the Deep South. Nationally recognized for her advocacy on behalf of women, African Americans, and rural communities, Dr. Elopre leaves behind a powerful legacy. But to those who knew her best, she was a loving wife to Chris, devoted mother of two young children - Jacob (13) and Gigi (8), a daughter, a sister, and a cherished friend to so many.

As we mourn her loss, we also look ahead with a commitment to honor her memory. We are raising funds to support education for her children, who were the heart of her world.
