In late September of 2025, Donna J Chaney was admitted into the hospital with pancreatitis-related complications and shortly after being released, she suffered more pain and complications and was transferred to another hospital nearly 3 hours away from friends and family. She went from nearly 24 years without ever having any prior health complications, to being admitted for an unforeseen and extended period of time, bedridden, pumped with pain medication, and operated on on multiple occasions. This came as an unexpected shock to her entire family, who despite our best efforts, still feel we never got enough time with her. As doctors and surgeons made progress in treating the pancreatitis, they uncovered other health issues such as a hernia, high blood pressure and cholesterol, clotted veins, cysts, & even a previous mild heart attack even she was unaware of. In the last week of October, things FINALLY seemed to be heading in the right direction as the infected part of her pancreas had been removed and the infection was being controlled. After four weeks of nothing but water sponges and some ice chips, she was happily eating a liquid diet!! After having success keeping it down, solid food was introduced! Although talks of rehabilitation upon her release from the hospital were happening, her husband and family were hopeful she would make it out with great success. However, just one day after this very exciting news came the worst news of all…On November 2, 2025, my mama had lost her pulse and despite all efforts for resuscitation, her heart never beat again.

Richard, my mom’s husband, stayed by her side every single day of her hospital stay, and shoulders the heavy weight of the financial burden it unfortunately carries on top of the pain of losing her.

God has been merciful throughout this journey in that although mama is no longer here on earth, she had time to find salvation in Christ & is able to rejoice with Him now. While she is immensely missed here, she is better off than us all, and we are trusting all who read her story will give what is put into their hearts and reap even more than they have sown.

We are hoping the amount raised will cover the funeral home expenses, keepsakes for her children, husband, and mom, medical bills from her prolonged stay, and expenses towards honoring her moving forward. Her memorial will be held on her birthday following the holidays.

I miss my mama more than I could ever put into words, so although her name may be unfamiliar or simply just another person, to you, please understand that to us, to me, my siblings, her mom, grandchildren, and her husband, she has been the largest part of our world for an incredibly long time.
