Help our family honor George Rubilar

My father, Domingo George Rubilar, was a real life super hero. From very humble beginnings, he was so selfless. Adopted as a baby, not knowing his birth family, he grew up wanting a big family of his own. My parents married young in 1980 and he was immediately a part of her growing family. My father always put his family above everything no matter the cost. He taught us to draw, played video games with us, build sand castles, ride bikes with us. Yes, typical for most fathers, but my dad was different. Every visit, he would show us new drawings and games he is playing. He always held onto being a big kid and he made sure that we knew to never let that inner child grow up.
When he was diagnosed with cancer, it was devastating to us all. After winning his first battle and finding out he has a real life brother, his cancer returned. He still remained so positive. Always making plans on how to bring a smile to our faces.
He took part in many Cancer walks every year and even drew countless Luminaria bags for those celebrating their loved ones battle during the Cancer Relays. Something that I will help with from now on in his place.
A life long local of San Pedro, CA, he loved his city. Skateboarding in pools, and surfing the boneyard as a kid. He always kept that same free spirited vibe, something that I hold dear to me.
Cancer took my father. Even at my age of 41, I will always feel like I am still too young to lose my father. He won’t be there for his oldest grandsons high school graduation, his granddaughters Quinceañera, or his youngest grandsons first day of school. But we know he will be watching from above.
He truly lived with the Aloha Spirit. Please donate to help us give him the proper life celebration he deserves.
