Isaac Martinez, a former Snyder High School track athlete from Jersey City, is organizing this fundraiser in honor of Coach Robert Arena and the lasting impact he had on so many young athletes. Coach Arena sadly passed away on October 18, 2021, and his loss was deeply felt throughout the Snyder track community. As the 5-year anniversary approaches, Isaac and others who knew Coach Arena want to honor his memory in a bigger way. On Sunday, October 18, 2026, a 5K race walk will take place to celebrate Coach Arena’s legacy and bring people together in remembrance of someone who meant so much to them.

This fundraiser will turn that remembrance into opportunity for the next generation. Donations will be awarded as scholarships to the brightest athletes across Hudson County, not just at Snyder High School. The more support this fundraiser receives, the more schools and student-athletes can benefit. If only a minimal amount is raised, a raffle will determine which school receives the scholarship. Isaac is asking friends, past teammates, and anyone moved by Coach Arena’s story to please support and share this fundraiser. Track created some of Isaac’s closest bonds and was always about more than just a sport. While everyone is still here to remember, this is a chance to honor Coach Arena, honor those who have been lost, and help the young athletes who come after them.
