Honor Bruce Lee's name in the Chinatown-International District
Before the world really knew about Bruce Lee, he lived in Seattle, WA. He studied at the University of Washington, opened his first martial arts school in the International District, and is even buried in Seattle. There are a couple murals but still no permanent markers of that history.
That's about to change: The City of Seattle just approved our application for an honorary street name for Bruce Lee at S. King St and 6th Ave. S in the Chinatown-International District. What's left is paying for it. We're raising $7000, with every dollar goes directly to covering the costs of creating this honorary street name.
Who's Behind This
This campaign is led by Abe Santos of the Jun Fan Gung Fu Academy in Seattle. Abe Santos is a certified Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do instructor whose lineage traces directly to Bruce Lee through Taky Kimura, Bruce Lee's closest friend and most trusted student.
For decades, Abe Santos has been dedicated to preserving and sharing Bruce Lee's original teachings and his important connection to Seattle. He also served on the committee that helped raise funds for the Bruce Lee statue coming to Seattle's Chinatown-International District.
Through this campaign, Abe Santos hopes to help ensure that Bruce Lee's Seattle legacy is permanently recognized and remembered for generations to come.
Where Your Donation Goes
The Bruce Lee Way street sign installation has not yet been paid for. We are raising $7,000 to cover the cost of the street signs and installation by the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT).
Funds raised through this GoFundMe will go toward paying these costs so that Bruce Lee Way can be installed and become a lasting tribute to Bruce Lee’s legacy in Seattle.
Every contribution—large or small—will help us make Bruce Lee Way a reality. Thank you for your support!
