It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of Brian Alan Anderson of Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, California, who left us on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 6:16 PM, after a brief illness. Brian was 55 years and 353 days old, "55 Forever."

Brian was truly one of a kind—a cycling legend, both on road and mountain, a dedicated sunset chaser, a patient fisherman, a spectacular craftsman, an accomplished guitarist, an innovative sculptor, an excellent marksman, and an extraordinary mentor. He also enjoyed hockey, snowboarding, water skiing, and archery.

Brian was known to bike Bald Mountain at least 100 times a year, taking in the majestic 360-degree views and making friends along the way.

He had been in construction for the majority of his adult life. At the time of his passing, he held the position of Division manager in the Finish Carpentry Division of Fairweather & Associates, located in Santa Rosa, CA.

He possessed a great sense of humor, a goofy spirit, a kind and private soul, was tough, brave and sweet, and was a cherished friend to many.

Brian won the Terrible-Two bike race (200 miles) more times than anyone else and still holds the record for completion in 10 hours and 50 minutes, set in 2002 at age 32 (BA1050). Other times included 10:59 (2004), 11:06 (2006), 11:11 (2007 & 2009).

His spirit and passion for adventure touched countless lives.

He was given a remarkable gift: he was a witness to all who loved him. Numerous fourth-floor Kaiser nurses commented that, in their 20-30 years of tenure, they had not seen the number of visitors or the outpouring of love for a patient, which speaks volumes about his character.

To honor Brian's memory and perpetuate his adventurous spirit, the Brian Anderson Memorial Scholarship (Mentorship) has been set up through the Santa Rosa High School Foundation with his blessing.

It aims to inspire and support young individuals in developing the same adventurous spirit that Brian embodied.

A handmade bench will be added to Bald Mt. in his honor as well.

I invite everyone who knew Brian, knew of him, rode near him, or was inspired by the incredible stories, as well as anyone who wishes to see his legacy endure, to share stories and contribute to this fundraising effort.

Your support will help us honor Brian's memory by empowering the next generation with the same passion for exploration, creativity, and endurance that he embodied.

We encourage donations of $55, $555, and $1050, but donations of any amount are deeply appreciated and will go directly toward creating this fund.

I met my friend Brian at Santa Rosa Junior High School in Rincon Valley, Santa Rosa, in 1981, when he was a 7th grader and I was in 9th grade.

Forever friends.

In 1985, I wrote in his high school yearbook that I would always be there for him.

I was honored to spend six of his last seven nights by his side, watching the sunsets.

His last sunset, taken from his west-facing, fourth-floor hospital room, is posted above. It was the most beautiful sunset either of us had ever seen—bittersweet.

Brian became close with my husband, and for many years, they rode all over Sonoma County and Tahoe together.

He was and still is our chosen family.

He is deeply missed, and I am honored that he gave me permission to create this fund.
