On October 19th, we lost our dear friend Bob Mulholland. Please join us in honoring Bob and his legacy by contributing to this GoFundMe campaign.

Funds will be used to fulfill Bob’s wish to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery, honor Bob at celebrations of life with his many friends in his hometown of Chico and in Sacramento and Los Angeles (dates post 1/1/26 TBD), and support his spouse Jane Dolan as she fulfills her wishes to honor the life and legacy of her husband and our hero.

Bob was beloved by thousands across the globe. Those sharing our grief include hundreds of young people he mentored to the highest-ranking officials across our and other nations. Over six decades, Bob influenced and touched multiple generations of activists, advocates, community leaders, and elected officials who followed his example of fighting the good fight and making positive change.

From the row houses of West Philadelphia to Vietnam to a life of action and advocacy, Bob’s trajectory was, like him, quick and no-nonsense. When he returned from Vietnam (a Purple Heart recipient), he joined countless veterans in fighting the war, which led to his lifetime of fighting injustice everywhere. Bob’s accomplishments were legion, but some highlights include: helping to elect Jane Dolan to the Butte County Board of Supervisors (and having the good sense to marry her along the way); serving as political director for the Campaign for Economic Democracy and the CA Democratic Party and as a member of the DNC; helping elect so many good people to local and state offices; closing Rancho Seco; passing Proposition 65; helping elect Tom Hayden to the CA Assembly and Senate; honoring and helping countless Vietnam veterans who served our country; participating in the U.S. reconciliation with Vietnam; fighting for labor rights; and joining Fire Drill Fridays. For virtually any cause that promoted justice, fairness and dignity for every single human being – Bob was there.

Bob could be brusque (some would say even a bit scary), always answering his phone, “Bob here!” Once you got past his lifelong habit of never mincing words, you were blessed to witness Bob’s huge heart, his compassion for others, and his commitment to right the wrongs of our world – the Bob we knew and loved and terribly miss today.
