He was more than a friend; he was like my surrogate son.

When he put his creative energy into tailoring his homemade tuxedo and asked me to be his best man, I was deeply honored to share in his joy, even in confinement. To you, my dear sister Marisa, I felt our spirits were deeply connected, and I felt so closely bonded to you—a sacred part of him. Today, as I reach out to you with words that feel inadequate, I grapple with the weight of my message. How profoundly he was loved, how much he loved you, and how much he will be missed. The news of his passing has left me feeling that I've lost a son and a dear friend, and the world has lost a compassionate and humorous soul.
