Honor Benjamin Mattes: Support His Memorial

After a long and hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer, our Dad, Benjamin Mattes, passed in his sleep on the morning of June 28th, 2025.

He was a loving, caring father who cared deeply about his children, his friends, and his family. Ben lived a long, adventurous life and used his grit and intelligence to shape himself into a brilliant chemist, businessman, and father.

His diagnosis was a difficult time for all of us, yet our Dad remained stoic and confident throughout the entirety of his illness, choosing to focus on the time we had left and to remain grateful for each day. He always talked about his adventures through life and the friends he made along the way which he loved and respected greatly.

His loving and caring attitude was infectious to many, almost to the point where it became forgettable that he was suffering from cancer. This said, the disease reminded us all of its presence as it took his life this morning.

This is a difficult time for all of us. Our Dad was and always will remain a great man of many talents and virtues, and we hope to give him a service which reflects that. Many know how difficult these situations can be and we ask for an extension of compassion from any who wish to aid us during this time. We are hoping to raise between $4500 to $7000 to give him the service and burial he deserves. We deeply appreciate any donations made.
