Amanda Mack came home from college for the summer with so much life ahead of her. She had more volleyball to play, dreams to pursue, and a new chapter waiting for her.

At just 20 years old, her family had to say goodbye.

Amanda was a loving daughter, friend, and teammate who lit up every room she walked into. She beamed with positivity and was deeply passionate about life. Her warmth and kindness made her someone people loved being around, and her presence brought joy to those who knew her.

An Under Armour All-American and college volleyball player, Amanda had worked hard to build her future. In May, she shared her excitement about continuing her academic and athletic career at the College of the Holy Cross. She was grateful for the people who had helped her along the way and eager for what came next.

Then, shortly after arriving home for the summer, everything changed.

Amanda woke up suddenly feeling unwell and passed out. Her family took her to the hospital, where initial tests revealed she was in critical condition. She needed to be admitted immediately.

After a week, Amanda was transferred to Tampa General Cancer Institute for a higher level of care as doctors worked to diagnose her. Following two bone marrow biopsies, her family finally received an answer: Severe Aplastic Anemia, a rare blood disorder.

The summer between college semesters became a fight for her life.

Doctors developed a plan for intensive treatment, but unexpected complications gave Amanda a steep uphill battle. She fought incredibly hard. Through it all, she continued to share hope and gratitude.

In August, Amanda thanked her nurses and doctors, calling them “a huge Blessing.” She hoped to go home soon, begin physical therapy, and continue healing. She also thanked everyone who had checked on her: “You all have made this whole thing a little easier ”

She was looking forward to going home. To getting stronger. To continuing the life she loved.

On September 16, 2026, at 9:16 p.m., Amanda passed away.

As her mom shared, Amanda was called home to her Heavenly Father, where she now shares in the blessings He promised for eternity. Her family holds tightly to that faith as they face the profound heartbreak of life without their daughter.

Amanda was a bright light in this world. Her absence is felt deeply by her family, friends, teammates, coaches, and everyone whose life she touched.

Amanda’s medical care totaled approximately $5 million. Even with insurance, her family is facing an overwhelming financial burden while grieving the loss of their daughter.

We are raising money to help cover the medical expenses that remain after insurance, along with funeral expenses. We cannot take away their heartbreak, but we can help ease the financial weight they are carrying and give them time and space to mourn Amanda.
