The Friends of George Rogers Park Committee is a group of dedicated friends and family who honor the life and legacy of George Rogers—a cherished teacher, father, grandfather, uncle, poet, musician, and friend. George left us too soon, but his impact on the community continues to inspire. In 2004, in partnership with the City of Modesto, his loved ones dedicated the park behind Orville Wright Elementary School, where George had taught, as a lasting tribute to him.

Since then, the Friends of George Rogers Park Committee has come together to help maintain the park and support the students and teachers of Orville Wright and the Airport Neighborhood where George taught for over 30 years. Our work includes organizing park cleanups, sponsoring local baseball teams, providing essential classroom supplies, and ensuring students have what they need to succeed. Additionally, we award scholarships to Orville Wright graduates, now graduating high school, who plan to attend college the following fall.

We can only continue this important work with the support of people like you. Every dollar raised helps us celebrate George’s legacy and share his story with future generations.

January 24th would have been George's 78th birthday. In honor of his birthday month, the Friends of George Roger's Park is raising funds to support ongoing efforts.

NOTE: Funds are going to Drum Love, a local nonprofit founded by George’s son, David Rogers. Drum Love is the Friends of George Rogers Park's administrative home and fiscal agent.
