A Loving Tribute to My Father

On January 8, my world changed forever. My mom called me from Guatemala, worried because she couldn’t reach my dad. He hadn’t been answering his phone. Concerned, I rushed to his house to check on him, only to find him in his room, unresponsive on the floor. My father had passed away during the night.

That day, the world lost a good man. My father was my hero, and discovering him like that was the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced.

His passing was sudden, and we weren’t prepared. My dad wasn’t one for planning for the future, but I want to honor his final wishes. We wish to cremate him and take his ashes back to Puerto Barrios, Guatemala, where he always dreamed of resting.

I’m reaching out to friends and family to ask for help in fulfilling his final wishes. Any contribution, big or small, would mean the world to us. Your support during this time is deeply appreciated, especially for my mom, who has felt the weight of this loss so deeply.

El 8 de enero, mi mundo cambió para siempre. Mi madre me llamó desde Guatemala, preocupada porque no podía comunicarse con mi padre. No había contestado su teléfono. Preocupado, corrí a la casa para ver cómo estaba, pero lo encontré en su habitación, sin reaccionar, en el suelo. Mi padre había fallecido durante la noche.

Ese día, el mundo perdió a un buen hombre. Mi padre era mi héroe, y descubrirlo así fue lo más difícil que he experimentado.

Su muerte fue repentina y no estábamos preparados. Mi padre no era de los que planifican el futuro, pero quiero honrar sus últimos deseos. Deseamos incinerarlo y llevar sus cenizas a Puerto Barrios, Guatemala, donde siempre soñó con descansar.
