My mother, Hong Lu (吕宏), passed away 9/5/25 at home in New York City after 14 months of battle with stage 4 lung cancer. She was 58 years old. She was born in China during the cultural revolution, and raised me by herself for 7 years while my father worked abroad. In 2009, my mother and I immigrated to the U.S. to join my dad. She worked hard her entire life, and sacrificed everything for her child and her family. We already missed her lots.
I have included photos from my travels with her. Before she passed, I was able to travel to Japan with her in 2018, Hawaii in 2019 (my dad included), and Italy in 2023. She was also able to visit Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, and Denver with my dad and his friends a few years back. I wish I was able to take her to more places before her passing, but unfortunately I could not do so. She loved Hawaii and Japan and wish she could have gone one more time before passing (esp. Hawaii). These photos bring me great joy and I hope you can get a sense of who she was from them
We would appreciate any help during this difficult time. All proceeds will go to funeral arrangements. Thank you and please take care.
With gratitude,
Carrie
