Honeymoon plans changed - Help Kate and Drew serve Asheville

We’ve all witnessed the devastation Hurricane Helene has left in its wake across the southeastern states. Western North Carolina is one of the hardest hit regions, with the vibrant city of Asheville suffering catastrophic loss of life and damage to personal property, businesses and infrastructure.

As some of you know, my fiancé Drew and I are getting married on November 16th. The natural beauty, thriving arts and cultural scene, and reputation for eclectic fine dining lead us to book our honeymoon in Asheville months before Helene was on anyone’s mind.

Instead of cancelling our Asheville honeymoon in light of the devastation, we want to bring as much love as we can to this beautiful city that needs help and patronage more than ever.

We don’t need wedding gifts, we have a roof over our heads and access to everything we need. Instead we are asking for donations so that we can provide even a little bit of relief to the people of Asheville and Buncombe County. We would be thrilled to accept financial donations to purchase necessities like water, food, diapers, toilet paper, feminine products, simple home repair supplies, etc. If you’d rather drop off supplies to us instead of making cash donations, we’d welcome that too.

Also don’t underestimate cards and notes of encouragement to be handed out as well. There’s nothing too small to make a difference. I plan on reaching out to organizations local to the Asheville area for specific needs and will update as I have more information. I promise to keep everyone updated throughout and during our trip and am open to suggestions of any kind.

We won’t be in the area for several more weeks but that is when the news media will turn its attention to the next crisis, and this North Carolina community will need us the most.
