Honeymoon Gone Wrong

While honeymooning with her wife in Costa Rica, my best friend Courtney experienced a worst case scenario in regards to her health.

At first she started experiencing some mild stomach pains which quickly turned into unbearable pain that she passed out from. She went to a nearby clinic that encouraged her to go to a hospital for further testing. Due to the location of the hospital, she had to be airlifted to save time and to get her to see someone quickly for the pain she was experiencing. Upon admission, the whole team was wonderful and started taking care of her right away. After a few tests, it was determined that she would need surgery.

Despite having hesitations about undergoing surgery in a foreign country, they didn’t give her much of a choice. In minutes they were prepping her after receiving the CT scan results. It was critical that she had the surgery as soon as possible. 

While in surgery, the doctors noticed multiple things wrong including her appendix and a congenital diverticulum known as Meckel’s Diverticulum. Both required operations and removal. 

So far, their medical insurance has stepped up - but there will be deductibles. Not only will they have to pay out of pocket for these but they also spent their ENTIRE honeymoon in the hospital. They have not gotten to experience anything they planned such as zip lining, scenic tours, volcano climbing, etc. 

It breaks my heart that they have had this experience so I have put this together to help them pay off whatever bills they will have from this experience as well as to help them start building back the honeymoon they not only planned for but deserve. They waited TWO YEARS for this honeymoon and to know that this is how it was spent  just makes it even worse.
