PLEASE DONATE FOR HONEY'S SURGERY!!!
We are working with several organizations and following up with every suggestion to help Honey.  She is an absolute angel pup and deserves a second chance.  Her specific type of surgery requires a full cath lab and special neo-natal equipment, with only UC Davis Surgical Unit available in our area.

The Central Coast SPCA received Honey, a tiny 3-1/2 lb, 5 month old puppy on 12-14-19 with a noticeable abrasion on her back leg, and a possible liver issue.  Since then, Honey has had several veterinarian visits for various issues: mange, kennel cough, and on 12-17-18 lab results were confirmed that Honey had a liver shunt, and the bile acid test performed confirmed it.

12-18-18: Honey began a specialized diet with a nutrient powder purchased from UC Davis for liver shunts in hope that she will stop losing weight and stabilize under the new diet.

On 1-7-19 Honey went to Advanced Veterinary Specialist in Santa Barbara for a detailed CT scan with the results confirming the original diagnosis, except we found out she has an internal shunt more common in large breed dogs. Not many pet hospitals are set up for this type of delicate surgery, especially in such a tiny puppy, and we were referred to UC Davis for surgery. While our vets work out the details with the surgical hospital... we desperately need to fundraise to get this done.  Honey is on three different medications to help her with her liver issue, one is specifically designed to prevent the build up of ammonia.  Most likely she will also be put on preventative anti-seizure medication within a few weeks also.

Honey's total is already over the $2,500 mark after the CT scan, lab, with donations towards her care at $850.00.  The upcoming estimated surgical costs is the reason for this fundraiser and we are asking all animal lovers to please help us, help Honey!

We are working with several organizations and following up with every suggestion to help Honey...   but the bottom line is the surgery at UC Davis is estimated at $10,000 and we will need a village to help us do this.

Please consider a donation, no matter how large or small, to go towards Honey's surgery.  She's only a 5 month old puppy and deserves a chance for a normal life.
