Honey needs urgent spinal surgery

This is 4-year-old Honey, aka Honey Dog, Honey Monster, Honey Pie, Honey Bunny, Honion, Hunka Munka & Honey G.
Honey ran into our lives, literally, when she was on one of her adventures which lead her to my daughters’ home. Living close by were a family that were backyard breeding Dachshunds. After chatting to the owner, it turned out that Honey was only 14mths old and had recently had her second litter of puppies.
The owner was now looking to sell her on, I had always wanted a Dachshund so you can guess the rest.
It wasn’t easy introducing Honey into the home, she was food aggressive, didn’t understand ‘play’ and walking on a lead but I persevered and within 6 months she was a different dog and her and my other dog Nel became friends.
Get a Dachshund they said, it would be fun they said! Who knew how agile these funny looking dogs are, and so naughty! From escaping out of the downstairs window, to breaking countless things, and oh my goodness can they run, when they want to that is! I’ve lost count of the number of times she’s been carried back from a walk because she’s put her brakes on!
So, the reason I’m introducing Honey to you, is I need your help.
Honey was poorly over the weekend and an emergency trip to the vets and an x-ray showed she had a potential issue with her spine.
Unfortunately, the next day after coming down the stairs, she came off the last step, she’s now off her back legs and requires spinal surgery.
Having rushed home to check my insurance policy for her, I realised to my horror that I had misinterpreted her cover, and I can’t afford the procedure.
I’ve been able to cover the cost of an emergency CT scan; the result is a herniated disc and will have some insurance money left to go towards the surgery which needs to be carried out as soon as possible.
Honey isn’t currently showing any signs of pain due to being prescribed Lexicom and hasn’t a clue that her back legs aren’t working. She’s able to go to the toilet and she’s wagging her tail; she’s the same happy barking dog she has always been.
However, going from the advice of the vets, if I can’t raise the money A.S.A.P, then the next discussion will be euthanasia. I’m heartbroken. She is a massive part of our family and my pupper means the world to me. When I look into her eyes, I know I can’t let this happen to her and will try anything in my power to make sure this isn’t her end.
I can’t begin to say how much it would mean if you were able to help, but if not please share, share, share!!
Love and light
