Honey Comb

I am Elaine Blanchard, www.elaineblanchard.com, a storyteller in Memphis, Tennessee. I am publishing my story, "Honey Comb." It is a  story that is favored by those who enjoy my storytelling. I have engaged an artist, Kaci Bug, who is a student at Memphis College of Art, to illustrate the story. She has done a wonderful job! We are submitting our work to Archway Publishing (www.archwaypublishing.com) where the story will become a beautiful children's book. The cost of publication will be $2500.00 

Olive Branch feels jealous and bitter because her classmate, Honey Comb, has more things than she does. Olive thinks Honey is too perfect, "perfectly ugly." Honey's dog, Tar, accidentally brings the girls together for a play date. Playing together changes the way Olive sees Honey and also changes the way Olive sees herself. It is a story about judgement and how it robs us, building a wall between ourselves and others.

I am so grateful for the support and encouragement my friends and  neighbors have offered to me over the years. My storytelling, playwrighting, performances, Prison Stories and workshops have been supported by people who value the work that I do. I do my best to break down walls and bring people together for conversation and increased understanding and peace.
