Une vie fauchée trop tôt

Rinrada, récente bachelière en biologie marine de Concordia, âgée de 27 ans, et son conjoint Jacob, un p’tit gars de Québec habitant à Montréal, avaient trouvé l’amour il y a quatre ans et prévoyaient enfin vivre ensemble cet été et amorcer un nouveau chapitre excitant de leur vie. Que de projets d’avenir ils avaient. Et tout s’est effondré le 19 mars dernier.

Pour ceux et celles qui ne le savent pas, Rinrada a reçu un diagnostic de cancer au Québec à la fin janvier. Elle est immédiatement partie pour son pays natal, la Thailande, afin d’être prise en charge et traitée rapidement. Il fallait agir vite. Jacob devait aller la rejoindre en avril pour la soutenir durant les traitements, mais la vie en a décidé autrement. Dès qu’il a appris que la situation s’empirait au lieu de s’améliorer, Jacob a changé son billet d’avion pour partir quelques jours plus tard. Toutefois, il aura été injustement déjoué puisqu’après un court et courageux combat contre un cancer rare particulièrement agressif, Rinrada – notre rayon de soleil à tous - nous a quittés subitement, entourée de quelques membres de sa famille proche.

Jacob n’ayant pas pu lui parler pour lui dire adieu, ni la voir avant le grand départ, il ne lui restait plus que les funérailles en Thailande pour accompagner son amoureuse une dernière fois.

Malgré l’aide généreuse de sa belle-famille, ce déplacement, organisé dans l’urgence, a engendré des coûts supplémentaires faramineux, notamment en raison de la modification de dernière minute de ses billets d’avion.

Jacob traverse actuellement l’une des épreuves les plus difficiles de sa vie, confronté à la perte injuste de Rinrada.

Aujourd’hui, nous faisons appel à votre soutien pour aider à alléger le fardeau financier engendré par la situation.

Par ailleurs, pour tous ceux et celles qui sont également sidérés de ce départ subit, un rassemblement en hommage à Rinrada sera organisé au retour de Jacob afin de permettre à tous ceux et celles qui ont aimé Rinrada de lui dire au revoir et de se soutenir mutuellement dans cette épreuve.

Un objectif a été fixé pour cette levée de fonds. Il n’y a aucune pression, chaque contribution est grandement appréciée. Quoi qu’il en soit, nous ferons tout notre possible pour honorer sa mémoire et soutenir Jacob.

A life cut short too soon

Rinrada, 27 years old, who graduated recently with a bachelor's degree in marine biology from Concordia, and her loving partner Jacob, a little guy from Quebec City living in Montreal, had found love four years ago and were planning to finally live together this summer and start a new and exciting chapter in their lives. What plans for the future they had. And everything collapsed on March 19.

For those who don't know, Rinrada was diagnosed with cancer in Quebec City at the end of January. She immediately left for her native Thailand to be taken care of and treated quickly. Time was of the essence. Jacob was supposed to join her in April to support her during the treatments, but life decided otherwise.

As soon as he learned that the situation was getting worse instead of better, Jacob changed his plane ticket to leave a few days later. However, it was unfairly thwarted because after a short and courageous fight against a particularly aggressive and rare cancer, Rinrada – a ray of sunshine for all – left us suddenly, surrounded by some members of her close family.

Jacob never had the chance to talk to her to say goodbye, or see her before the big departure. All that was left was to attend the funeral in Thailand to accompany his love one last time.

Despite the generous help of his in-laws, this trip, organized in all urgency, generated staggering additional costs, especially because of the last-minute change of his plane tickets.

Jacob is currently going through one of the most difficult trials of his life, dealing with the unjust loss of Rinrada.

Today, we are asking for your support to help ease the financial burden of the situation. In addition, for all those who are also devastated by this sudden departure, a gathering in tribute to Rinrada will be organized on Jacob's return to allow all those who loved Rinrada to honour her life and to support each other in this ordeal.

A goal has been set for this fundraising. However, there is no pressure, as every contribution is greatly appreciated. We will do everything we can to honor her memory and support Jacob.
