What could have been a tragedy is now God's Miracle Story!

Dear Friends and loved ones!

This past Friday morning my brother, Homer Mason, was on his way to work in Little Rock Arkansas, to finish off his work week with Felland Brother's Construction, when he had a serious fight with a semi truck. As he said, "The semi won!" It was around 6:45 am.

* The rescue took over an hour. The pictures above with faces over them are when Homer was still trapped in the vehicle! *

We believe that Homer's life being spared was an absolute miracle. And if you've seen the photos above, I'm sure you will agree! There's no other explanation than that God had His hand of protection over my brother's life!!  Even in the accident, and in his rescue, there are numerous indications of God protection and divine providences. Consider the following!

1. Homer didn't see the semi, and so didn't have a chance to slam on the breaks, or tense up and brace for impact. (He should have been killed by such a collision!)

2. He was driving an older vehicle that had already been in a wreck and there were no airbags. (Without that added cushion he should have been killed, or at best had serious chest, face, and vital organ or lung injury! But he didn't even receive a puncture wound to his chest!)

3. Most of his heavy tools in the back of the van were broken up, mangled, or destroyed. And yet his head, his neck, and his life (much more soft and breakable than those heavy tools) remained intact! (The tools also could have come forward and killed him from behind!)

4. The strongest bone in his body, his femur (thigh bone) experienced a compound break... but his knee and his hip were not damaged! (He could have fractured his pelvis, hips, or worse been paralyzed from a broken neck!)

5. The front of his van was so crushed in by the semi that he was literally pinned under the dash, with no way to break free, when rescuers arrived. (Keep in mind that Homer is 6ft 4 inches tall!) Praise the Lord there was no engine fire! It took an hour, with assistance of jaws of life, and numerous rescue workers, to get Homer free and out of the wreckage. In the meantime, he could have bled to death--if he was bleeding. And his feet and legs could have been crushed and destroyed under that crumpled dash that was pressing down on him. But when they at last pulled him out, there was no mangled body, and no heavy bleeding. Yes, he did have broken bones! His right femur suffered a compound fracture, and he had a broken ulna in his right arm, and his left hand is broken. He also had minor lacerations and cuts to his face. (But injuries could have been so much worse!)

6. The semi truck trailer buckled from the impact. But the trailer was empty. What a providence that it was not a heavy loaded semi.

7. His brother-in-law Joel, and then Andrew Felland, were some of the first on the scene of the accident as they were not far behind Homer on their way to work. Imagine being the one who arrives at a family accident and not being sure what you will find. What a relief when Joel discovered Homer was alive and conscious and talking! And what comfort to Homer to have his two brother-in-laws there as rescue workers worked for over an hour to set him free.

Now you can see why we are praising God for the miracle of saving Homer's life!

Longterm prognosis: The doctors have told Homer that it will be 4-6 months before he can return to work and before life will be somewhat normal. (If then!) He's had three surgeries over the weekend, one putting a rod in his right leg, another putting metal in his right arm, and then they put pins in his left hand. His left hand is currently our biggest concern and is causing him a lot of pain. While he's already learning to walk again with a walker, he will be moving slow for awhile, and he will not be able to use his left hand for weeks, and no lifting for more weeks after that.

Help Support Homer and Lydia while Homer is off work recovering!

Homer is the only income earner in his family, while his beautiful wife Lydia raises their three children (Darlene 4, Dietrich 2, and newborn Dahlia 2 months). Homer had no medical insurance so will likely be making payments for awhile on medical costs. However, our main concern at the moment is he and his family's living expenses while he's out of the work force! If you'd like to help Homer and Lydia with their daily life expenses and support, during these coming months of recovery,  we encourage you to donate here.

Thanks in advance for the outpouring of love for our family and especially for Homer and Lydia during this difficult time. We are all so grateful!

"Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed. Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness." Lam. 3:22-23

“The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him and delivers them.” Ps. 34:7

God bless!
