Homeless, Wounded & Forgotten: Don’t Let Us Be Another Story

I am fundraising from Australia on behalf of Mohammed's family in Gaza. This is his story in his words:

My name is Mohammed Abu Amsha, a simple man and a father of five children.

All I ever dreamed of was to raise my kids in safety, to give them a roof over their heads, a warm bed, and smiles unshaken by fear.

We used to live in a humble, warm home in the heart of Gaza.

It had small rooms filled with love: a room for my daughters with three beds decorated with their drawings, and a room for my sons with two beds and shelves for their toys.

I had a small office where I worked online to support us.

We shared meals in the kitchen, laughed together in the living room, and next to us was a little fish tank that brought joy to my children.

But everything disappeared... in a moment.

In one instant, our home was bombed.

Everything turned to ashes.

We fled barefoot, without documents, without clothes, without memories.

My car was destroyed. My children's dreams buried under rubble. My workspace – gone.

Four of my children were injured in the bombing.

We’ve been displaced more than 20 times.

Everything we owned is gone.

Today, we live in a cloth tent… in the cold, in the heat, with barely enough food or clean water.

I'm writing these words with tears in my eyes. Not because I'm weak, but because I'm a father, watching his children tremble at night, asking, “Daddy, when can we go home?”… and I have no answer.

I’m not asking for much.

Just a chance — to travel with my family to a safe place, to start over, to rebuild a home – even a small one – where my kids can sleep without fear.

Every donation, no matter how small, is a lifeline for us.

It could be a blanket for my child, medicine for the injured, or a step toward rebuilding a future.
