Homeless Vet Sanitary Mobile
Hello, and thank you for reading!
My name is Matt Graves, and I've got a great start to bringing cleanliness and rest to our homeless veterans.
Using the vehicle pictured, I would like to convert it into a mobile hygene station, using information from social networking, friends and neighbors, to find individuals with proven military backgrounds, that need help staying clean and healthy.
This mobile station will be sent to one veteran at a time, to give him/her the respect of being treated as an individual, not a number.
To start, we need capitol to get things going as fast as possible. Someone is out there, needing a shower, cleaned teeth and a safe place to take a nap, right now.
That is where you come in.
The "S3" as we are going to call it, (name provided by Shandy Lecourias) which stands for "Sit, Shower & Shave" will need renovations and work that is not free, unfortunatly.
The money raised will go towards:
•Floor replacement from where a skylight has leaked.
•Ceiling replacement, from the same skylight leak.
•New light fixtures, from same skylight leak.
•Engine fine-tuning. I've already got her to run! We just need a few more adjustments/parts to make her run without complications!
•New toilet.
•Recarpetting.
•Comfortable seating, which includes a new fold-out bed with hypo-allergenic matteress/sheets/pillows, and chairs.
•Replacing the old refrigerator. We want to keep healthy food, on hand, so they can have a meal afterwards!
•Valve replacement on the underbelly propane tank. There is a leak behind the main valve. This will need to be replaced.
•Propane tank filled. Depending on where we end up, this tank can fuel all of the vehicle's applicances, including the hot water.
•Electric work. We need the tail lights rewired, and the DC lighting troubleshooted, among other misc. electrical needs.
•Paint. The outside/inside looks rough. We want the vets to come to us, not run away!
•Proper air conditioning/heating. We will need a rooftop air conditioner/heater.
This is the list as it stands right now.
Anyone that contributes $200 or more will get their name engraved on a stainless steel plaque, mounted in an undetermined location in or on the vehicle.
Additional goals include:
•Gearing up with community leaders to spread the word.
•Talking to local churches to get food/supplies/clothing.
•Getting certified medical persons to tag along for diagnostics/first aid/pain relief.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. With your help, we can positively affect those that have done our country a great service, yet are living on the streets.
We will begin renovations once we have achieved or goal!
