Homeless Vet, Helping To Keep Him Warm
Donation protected

Please help us keep this vet warm while he awaits for VA housing approval. My daughter, a local Police Officer for Wilson, NC has been visiting him and his service dog for a year now. We are raising money to be able to give him a warm place to lay his head as the cold season approaches. All monies raised will go directly to a local Hotel/Extended Stay. The more we raise the longer we can keep him warm. Once he receives VA approval (who knows how long that will take) any extra monies will go for the purchase of clothing, as all he has is the clothes on his back. Below, is my daughters story of them both.
It’s moments like these where I know I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
This is Marc and Norva. They have been “in between places” for quite some time now. I’ve built a relationship with them both throughout the last year being they walk around my district quite often and enjoy sitting in the park at the library. Marc is a Vet and Norva actually traveled the world with him. You’ll never see Marc begging for money and he’s always thankful for what he gets.
One thing about Marc is he doesn’t ask for help and when you try to help him he only accepts the bare minimum. He is a very humble man.
A few days ago he told me things couldn’t get any worse for him. But, today I wanted to show him things can get better. I brought him some necessities and of course Norva some treats and a toy. Marc told me he’s been learning my schedule and he has something to look forward to when he knows I’m working, knowing I will always come find him to say hello. He tells me our conversations save him.
Moral of the story, my job gets brutal but when I have experiences like these I know I couldn’t ask for anything more from a profession.
P.S look at Norva playing with his new toy.
