Homeless to Hopeful: Fund Top Surgery
Donation protected
After getting kicked out of my parent's house for being queer, living in a shelter, being homeless for a year and a half, and having my ex steal hundreds of dollars from me, I am finally back on my feet and ready to save up for top surgery!
My name is Theo and I have struggled with gender dysphoria since I was 12. I'm now 23, and I have the chance to do something to help alleviate this stress. Unfortunately, top surgery is about $7,000 out of pocket, as my insurance doesn't cover this. This doesn't include things like money for transportation, necessities for post-op care, or funds to help cover bills while I am recovering and unable to work. The money I'm asking for is strictly the bill for the surgery.
I understand that times are tough for people right now. I wouldn't ask for help if I didn't think it was necessary. Recently, Donald Trump has upped the amount of transphobic rhetoric that he's spewing. Project 2025 lays out specifically how far-right Republicans plan to criminalize health care for trans people. Unfortunately, that makes this a time-sensitive issue.
I have experienced transphobia firsthand more times than I can count. People are only getting more comfortable with the spread of hatred towards trans people, and I'd be lying if I said this didn't worry me. With the help of your donation, I will be one step closer to accessing healthcare that Trump plans to get rid of.
