04/19/23 - Desires to do more for the cats and the population issues in Little Haiti is even more alive today than prior to the coin laundromat program. With having my restaurant right next to the Coin Laundry, I've decided to take my back garden patio and convert it into a CatTio Patio closed in with an outdoor grilling station available during day time and evenings.
We could definitely use the help in funds for the buildout of the Catio Pati Garden.
We are also in need for Cat Food, Cat Litter and Flea Medicine.
ORIGINAL MESSAGE PROJECT...easy project, easy dream to build on an existing coin laundry as a way to offset expenses for the cost of feeding, fostering and spaying over five (5) dozen cats and to provide the same for the much needed community of Little Haiti. Unfortunately, not there just wasn't enough belief and financial support in such project. After losing over 60k, the Coin laundry has been closed and taking the project across the street and to the back of my restaurant where I have a great patio to covert into a CATIO with and out door kitchen grill.
Funds needed to construct the CATIO. Please help spread the word. Pictures of the space coming soon.
Cheers!
Hello, my name is Frank Blanco, I’m the chef and owner of the House of Food Porn Restaurant in Little Haiti since 2016 but an animal lover all my life. When I opened my restaurant in 2016, I met a local feeder named Charlie Marshall who was feeding over 100+ cats daily in the neighborhood. Seeing his love and passion for cats and animals, I was indirectly motivated to help in the feeding cause, so I began to feed around the restaurant. Since then, I have been feeding, spaying, and neutering over a few dozen cats, ultimately bringing over a dozen indoors.
Sadly, in 2020 Charlie Marshall passes away due to Cancer and left the neighborhood and over 100+ cats needing feeding, vetting, etc. That’s when I and a group of lady volunteer feeders took over the daunting task that Charlie filled so well. My area of focus was behind an abandoned COIN LAUNDRY that had been closed for over four (4) years.
However, in 2021, the COIN LAUNDRY became available to lease, and while understanding that something other than feeding cats was needed, I jumped on the opportunity of opening The FAB CAT RESCUE CAFÉ & COIN LAUNDRY.
The Vision became clear, open a Coin Laundry in the front with a Cat Rescue Café Lounge in the back along with a dedicated ROOM for SPAYING, NEUTERING, ISOLATION, ETC, since there is plenty of space in this private gated corner lot.
In these last 12 months of the COIN LAUNDRY, I’ve rescued all the kitties in the coin laundry area along with all the kittens. Just about all the cats have been spayed, neutered, vaccinated, etc.
The purpose of the COIN LAUNDRY is to offer COMPLIMENTARY DRYING SERVICES to the neighborhood residents that assist in the SPAYING/NEUTERING PROGRAM.
BUT NOW I NEED YOUR HELP IN COMPLETING THIS HOMELESS KITTIE PROJECT & MAKING THIS KITTIE CAT RESCUE DREAM A REALITY.
DONATIONS WILL GO TOWARDS FOOD, CAT LITER, VET SERVICES AND THE LAST PHASE OF THE KITTIE RESCUE HOUSE CAFÉ BUILDOUT.
