Operation Chillout began humbly on the winter solstace (DEC 21st) in the year 2000 with three Vietnam Vets sheltering under the train trestle in Dover, NJ...they needed backpacks for their meager belongings - which we provided - along with warm clothing... thus began our backpack drive which is still going on 15 years later. Members of our Rapid Response Rescue Team operate 24/7/365 with an all-volunteer force of vets and non-vets who answer the calls for help from homeless vets to our hotline as well as conduct street sweeps in a proactive search.
OPERATION CHILLOUT is a NJ 501(c)(3) tax exempt, non profit. We are all volunteers and no one is taking a salary. We are a small organization doing big things! We need your help to continue housing, feeding, clothing and transporting homeless veterans.
Remember: "Homeless" and "Veteran" should NOT be in the same sentence!
