Hello I am Mehernosh L Bharucha 61 years old.
I have been living in LaSalle Québec H8N1N4 Canada for over 41 years. When my parents were alive we all lived together. I was their caregiver and support system; with some assistance provided by CLSC and Chèque Emploi Service for showers (once per week), respit (Babysitting), dressup / turndown service, and daily putting on compression copperwire sox on my Father. Mom & Dad received old age security from QPP = Regie de Rentes Québec; as well as from OAS = Old Age Security from the Canadian Government. We Shared the costs and paid our bills as a threesome living together as a family. After my beloved Mother passed away in 2021 things were a little tight and I started applying for jobs everywhere although I have reduced mobility due to all my ligaments being torn in my left hand and my shoulder socket being cracked or broken diabetes hypertension PTSD osteoarthritis Cirrhosis of the liver kidneys not fully functional and Bilateral Plantar Fasciitis. On Thursday July 14th 2022 I commenced fulltime work at McDonald's on 8300 Newman Blvd in LaSalle. Just 5 minutes away from our rented upper duplex on Préville Street. In March 2023 my Father passed away May God Rest their Souls. Now things were tight for Rent, Hydro Québec (Electricity), Hydro Solutions (Hotwater), City of Montréal taxes which according to my lease I must pay, home insurance, Groceries, living expenses, bill collectors, etc... but still managing. McDonald's closed for renovations in February & March of 2024. That's when things started to go very wrong for myself financially as my hours of work were cut drastically and was getting between 0 to 10 hours per week. I complained to my manager that I owe money everywhere and cannot meet my obligations / commitments nor am I able to pay my inexpensive rent of 950$ per month for a 5½ upper duplex. Moving is not an option as I am living paycheck to paycheck and have no savings as my bills were paid. My complaint went on deaf ears with me getting only between 18 to 30 hours per week. 3 of those hours are unpaid hours for breaks that I must take regardless that I could not afford to take breaks. Ever since I started working at McDonald's I have never enjoyed any of their social activities as I had obligations for my parents an now being evicted from my upper duplex apartment for non payment of rents. I have no income now as I had to take a sabbatical for trying to save some sentimental items from my Mother & Father's heydays as well as some basic furniture being taken by one of my friends living 2½ hours North of Montréal beyond Joliette. I have commenced applications to HLM = low income housing and to Services Québec MTESS for welfare social aid assistance. McDonald's asked me to meet with them just yesterday Tuesday July 15th 2025 to know my story my current super bad situation and come up with solution. It's Too late I am EVICTED FROM what was an affordable apartment with great space only to now live like a hermit maybe in my car or pitch a tent like other homeless . Isn't it amazing that the elderly those that served their country and paid taxes all their lives for decades are now becoming homeless . So I beseech you to please help me pay some costs and find a humble place to survive while I get back on my feet. For more than the last 18 months I have been on Indeed Glassdoor and Google job searches applying for jobs almost everyday. But nobody wants a 61 years old man with reduced mobility issues! So I am still trying not giving up and begging for your help please and Thank you. I received an offer from Montaxi Montréal but I am still waiting on Revenue Québec to give me my GST / TPS & PST / TVQ numbers as well as I need to have a vehicle of less than 6 years old and pass it through a mechanical inspection. It seems I am not able to take this great leap of opportunity again due to a lack of funds. So here I am with the truth.
