Homeless Veteran Urgently Needs Housing and Food

Evelynn Beasley is a U.S. Air Force veteran. She once dedicated her life to serving this country as an Aircraft Fuels Systems Specialist, but instead of being honored for her service, Evelynn was discharged simply for being trans.

Living in Alabama has become unbearable and unsafe. Evelynn is unhoused, unemployed, and targeted daily just for existing. Her car was vandalized with nothing stolen: a cruel reminder that the attack wasn’t about theft, but hate. She has faced numerous instances of physical violence since being discharged from the Air Force. Most recently, she was assaulted and prevented from receiving a meal at her local soup kitchen.

She is also carrying immense trauma. Because of the US military’s ban on trans service members, Evelynn has lost her livelihood, her marriage, and even access to her children.

On top of that, she has been battling severe mental health struggles, to include multiple suicide attempts since her discharge. When I asked what would best help her current situation, she said simply: food. Knowing she will not go hungry is the single greatest relief for her mental health; your donations will directly make that possible.

Despite so much pain, Evelynn refuses to give up. Today, she began taking classes at her community college and will receive a stipend through her GI bill. She has secured Section 8 housing assistance that will help with a portion of her rent. These are incredible steps forward, but she still needs urgent financial assistance for food security and for approval to rent an apartment.

Why This Matters:

This campaign is to help a patriot who volunteered to serve her country. It’s about protecting a veteran who stood for all of us when her country asked, and standing with her now when she needs us most.

Every dollar donated will go directly toward rent, food, utilities, and transportation so Evelynn can finally begin to heal, continue her education, and rebuild her life with dignity and safety.
