My name is Sadie Martinez. I’m a single mother living with my brother and mother who is also a single mom. We lived in our apartment in Morris heights for over 30 years. Unfortunately, due to the collapse of the building we have been left homeless and are in search for a new apartment to rebuild our lives. However, I can’t work because I have to take care of my 14 month old baby. We lost everything. We were only allowed back into our home for 20 minutes to recover our documents and scraps of clothes to try and make through the winter. We’re not allowed to recover any heavy items including my baby crib for my baby to sleep in. We are currently staying in different houses of our family and friends, but we can’t keep doing this forever. We cannot go into a shelter because our dog is not allowed in.
