On October 13, 2020, my life took a tragic turn. My Ted E. Bear, aka Jerry Grubbs, was called home. The hashtag #BearStrong was due to his battle with Cancer. Diagnosed with Leukemia in 2006 and then in January of this year, he was diagnosed with  Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. His health quickly took a turn for the worst. 

On last Thursday, my daughter Kennedy had her Senior night for high school. We didn't think her father would be able to attend due to this 10 rounds of radiation. So, we asked her Godfather to step in. However, Bear, got up that morning and said he would attend for his baby girl. He made her and everyone at attendance Smile. I think he knew that would be the last time he would make a memory with his baby.  Unfortunately he was right. On Monday, I woke to him not feeling well to the point where I had no choice but to call EMS. Once arriving to the hospital he was visibly worse.  I watched the life leave from his eyes. They worked on his for hours and finally stabilized him with a ventilator and moved him to SICU. 

I was allowed to visit from 8 to 9. Shortly after arriving home, I received the call that would change my life forever. My Bear was gone. 

Today, I went to start funeral proceedings and to review the insurance policies and found out that the insurance policy had ended due to stipulations from his FMLA.  

Bear was a friend to all, but my husband. And I want to make sure he gets the proper burial. I am not above asking for help when it comes to my family. If you can find it in your heart to make a donation to his Homegoing Services, his children and I would greatly appreciate it.
