Cherod Gadson’s Obituary
Cherod Tramaine Gadson was born on October 18, 1985, in San Antonio, Texas, at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base, to Michael Le Roy Gadson and Valerie Lucinda Wilson. He graduated from Triumph High School, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in June 2004. At the time of his passing, he was 38 years old. He transitioned to his heavenly home from San Antonio, Texas, on December 30, 2023.
Cherod gave his life to Christ and was baptized at an early age. More recently, he joined Community Bible Church in San Antonio, Texas, where he married the love of his life, Michele Keith, on November 4, 2023. When he married Michele, he enthusiastically embraced her daughters: Taleia, Alesha, and Mariah. After all, he had been in their lives for many years. He participated in two marriage programs: Group link and Merge Marriage Group (both designed to give marriage a Godly focus). One of his favorite scriptures was Hebrews 5:8 “…though he was a son yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered”. One of his favorite quotes was, “you don’t have to control your thoughts, you just have to stop letting them control you”.
He was a hardworking industrious family man who always strived to be his best. He worked a variety of jobs in his life, including working as a plumber/pipe fitter/welder, insurance agent, music producer, and finally as a roofing contractor.
Cherod was very creative. His boldness and creativity allowed him to express himself across various artistic platforms to include emceeing and performing at spoken word poetry slams, singing, rapping, jewelry making, pencil art and tattooing. In other words, he mastered everything that he set his hands to do.
He was an active volunteer in the community, working with the Texas Organizing Project (TOP), a transformative organization with a goal to make Texas work for all its citizens; Parker Project (cancer awareness and fundraising), and various voter registration drives just to name a few.
Cherod is survived by his wife Michele, his stepdaughters: Taleia Marie Dilworth (17), Alesha Renee Dilworth (15), and Mariah Denise Keith (10); his father Michael (Valarie) Gadson, his mother Valerie L. Wilson, his brothers: Christopher T. Gadson and Michael L. Gadson II; his stepbrothers: Alphonso Olds III and Alijah Olds; his stepsisters: Ashley (James) Hamilton, Alexus Olds; his mother-in-law, Denise A. Keith; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Cherod, you touched many. Thank you for your legacy of faith, love, compassion, understanding, gratitude, and gentleness. Your gentle spirit, kind heart, and infectious laughter will forever be in our ears, hearts, and minds.
The family of the late Cherod Tramaine Gadson wishes to thank everyone for their expressions of sympathy conveyed to us in many ways. We appreciate your thoughtfulness and thank you most sincerely. It will be remembered with deep gratitude.
Perhaps you sent a lovely card or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent those beautiful flowers that we saw sitting there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words any friend could say. Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day. Whatever you did to console our hearts we thank you so much for whatever part.
