Celebration of Life for Darlene Sutherland

My name is John Sutherland II and I still can't believe it's true! My bride, my wife of only 12 years, Darlene C. Sutherland died unexpectedly and prematurely. The fact is that even if I'd spent 100 years with her, her passing would have been premature. I miss my "Babe".
Darlene was without a doubt the smartest, most intelligent young lady I'd ever met. Anytime she spoke, my chest swelled with pride at how articulate my wife was. When I read the tributes of how many lives she impacted, it encourages my heart. Although Darlene and I never had children, she was a mother to many and a daughter of the Most High God. She was a friend, a little sister, a big sister, a Sunday school teacher, a counselor, a confidante, a mentor, a godmother, an auntie, an amazing youth leader and my closest friend. She poured her energy, love, time, and words of encouragement into the lives of countless youth and challenged them to become better people. Many of them can attest that her influence positively affected their spiritual lives. Whether she was functioning as a social worker, attending a trunk party, going to a barbecue, or talking on the phone, she always made time for people. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
I recall praying one night after Darlene had her first stroke. I reminded the Lord of the many miracles He had given me and told Him that I didn't want my next miracle but instead, wanted Him to give it to her. I desperately wanted her to survive, even if it meant that I would lose a blessing. Of course, I know that the Lord is able to give us both unlimited blessings, but I wanted to show Him how earnest I was in my desire for her to be made whole. Darlene had her second stroke on Christmas Eve 2020. She never fully recovered and in mid-February, two weeks after my birthday and three weeks before hers, the Lord chose to call her home. She did not have life insurance and my heart's desire is to provide her with the homegoing service she deserves. To this end, we ask for your assistance by aiding us with any contributions that you are willing to give. If Darlene has ever been a blessing to you by helping your child get or stay on the right track, calming your nerves as you went away to college or offering a prayer in a difficult time, I bless you and thank you in advance for the final gift that you would be giving to Darlene Cherrelle Sutherland.
